Our first EFT Kawagoe Guide “Free Walking Tours” of year 2025 was held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Kurazukuri Old Town, the most popular sightseeing spot in Kawagoe.
We have welcomed 11 new members who finished Kawagoe City English Volunteer Guide Training Course and certified as an EFT Kawagoe Guide. We are now a family of guides!!
Even though it was a chilly day with temperatures below 10°C (50°F), a total of 37 EFT guide members, of course the new members included, conducted a 30-minute free walking tour of Kurazukuri Old Town welcoming foreign tourists at the Kawagoe Festival Museum and Kajimachi Square. We have welcomed 35 foreign guests from a wide variety of countries, including Australia, Italy, Argentina, Peru, India, the Philippines, the United States, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany
As a new attempt, we tried out guiding in Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, one of the most popular shrines in Kawagoe. At Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, we had a chance to guide the guests throughout the shrine and lead them to the attractions such as Tai-Mikuji (red snapper fortune papers) and Hitogata Nagashi (floating human‐shaped paper to wash away the sins and bad luck) and received very positive responses from the guests.
The next free walking guide tour will be held on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, from 11:30 to 15:30.
