Monthly Guide tour in September

On Sunday, September 8th, EFT Kawagoe Guide “Free Walking tours” were held at Kurazukuri Old Town the main “Ichibnangai”, the most popular sightseeing spot in part of the Kawagoe.

Although it was a burning-hot day like midsummer, we offered 30-minute free walking tour of Kurazukuri Old TownIchibangai, including “Toki no Kane” (Time Bell Tower, the symbol of Kawagoe), welcoming foreign tourists at the Kawagoe Festival Museum and Kajimachi Square.

22 guide-members joined the activity, and a member form Czech and a high school student living in Kawagoe helped reception. We have welcomed 12 guests of 7 groups from various countries such as Canada, the UK, Spain, New Zealand, France, and Singapore. Some of the guests were residents of Japan. We have earned favorable comments such as the 30-minute tour was excellent, very easy to understand, and very satisfying.

To provide the guests with the latest information, we have updated the English map of “Kashiya Yokocho”(Penny Candy Lane).

We also have welcomed a high school student from Sakado City who came to interview our activity, and several guide members answered the questions like the reason of becoming a volunteer guide and the hints of good guiding.

During our tour activity, members picked up trash in their free time to keep the town clean to the tourist and to the residents.

To cope with the extreme high temperature, we provided salt-recharge candies to guests, and staff took turns to rest in the shade as needed. We also encouraged them to drink plenty of water; therefor, no one got sick!!

Since it was a 2nd anniversary of EFT Kawagoe Guide, we held a party to celebrate the anniversary after the guide activity.

We will be holding free walking guide tour again on Sunday, October 13th from 11:30am to 3:30pm. If you’re interested in our activity, please come and see what we are doing. We will welcome everyone with our big smile!
